November across Greater Manchester moves from lunchtime recitals in the city centre to Remembrance music in Bolton and orchestral evenings in Stockport, with the first festive programmes arriving before the month is out. Here is what we have verified from the venues' own listings, followed by some practical advice for anyone planning a piano move this winter.
What's on this month
Recitals and orchestral music in the city centre
The week opens at Stoller Hall on Hunts Bank. Chetham's Lunchtime Concerts take place in the Carole Nash Hall on Tuesday 3 November at 1:30pm, and the listing describes them as free weekday recitals by some of the UK's most exciting young musicians. The following day, Wednesday 4 November at 1:30pm, the Chetham's Relaxed Lunchtime Concerts move to The Atrium at Stoller Hall, an easy way to hear young players in a less formal setting.
On Thursday 5 November at 6.00pm the Hallé Orchestra plays Rush Hour: Scheherazade, listed by The Bridgewater Hall. The early start suits anyone coming straight from work. On Friday 6 November at 1.00pm, Hallé St Peter's hosts a chamber concert built around Priaulx Rainier's Quanta, a lunchtime programme for those who prefer something smaller in scale.
Later in the month, Chetham's Composers Concert at Stoller Hall on Wednesday 11 November at 7:30pm features students' own compositions, performed by ensembles from the school. It is worth hearing precisely because the music has not been heard before. For families, Stoller Story Sounds: Helena the Horse Finds Her Courage runs on Saturday 7 November at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, priced at £8 per child, with one accompanying adult going free.
Bolton and Stockport
In Bolton, the Albert Halls hosts Bolton's Annual Concert of Remembrance on 5 November 2026, a civic occasion with live music. Later in the month, on 17 November, the venue stages Swan Lake. If you are bringing a keyboard to a rehearsal or a school event in the town, our piano removals in Bolton cover the whole borough.
Stockport Plaza has the fullest orchestral and choral programme of the month. The Nation's Songbook, on Sunday 8th November at 7.00pm, brings together an orchestra, choir and soloists for wartime favourites and timeless classics, which makes it a natural companion to Remembrance weekend. Crown Ballet presents The Nutcracker on Tuesday 10th November at 7.30pm, with Tchaikovsky's score, and The Snowman: Live with Yorkshire Imperial Band follows on Friday 13th November at 7.00pm. Anyone moving a piano in or out of Stockport around these dates will find our piano removals in Stockport page useful for planning.
Coming up just after the month ends, Stockport Plaza's pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk opens on Friday 4th December 2026.
Does moving a piano up stairs cost more in Greater Manchester?
Yes, steps, stairs and tight turns usually affect the price of a piano move more than the mileage does, because they decide how many people and how much time the job needs.
Our piano removals start from £138 inc VAT, but the figure you are quoted depends on what happens at each end. A piano travelling from Didsbury to Chorlton, only a few miles, can be more demanding than one going from Altrincham to Bolton if the first has a flight of stairs and a sharp turn on the landing, and the second has level access from the drive.
Before you ask for a price, walk the route as if you were carrying the piano. Count the steps at the front door, and note whether there is a ramp, a kerb or a gravel drive. Measure the narrowest doorway and the width of the staircase, and look for turns, banisters and low ceilings. Photographs of each stage are very helpful. Tell us too whether you are on the ground floor or higher, and whether a lift is available, as in many apartment conversions around the Northern Quarter and Salford Quays.
Older housing can be a challenge. The stone terraces of Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside, many built for mill workers, often have steps straight from the pavement and narrow hallways with a turn at the foot of the stairs. Newer homes in Sale and Trafford can have tight hallways and open-plan staircases that look generous but leave little room to manoeuvre. Upright pianos are easier to take through these spaces than a grand, and moving a grand piano needs particular care over the route, so mention the type when you contact us.
Collection and delivery are different jobs, so check both addresses. A piano that leaves a ground-floor hall easily may be going to a first-floor room, and that is the part which changes the work involved. If the new home is not ready, piano storage can bridge the gap, though we would rather you raised it at the outset than on the day.
Once you have the measurements and photographs, you can request a piano removal estimate and we will price the job against the actual route rather than a guess.
Moving, storing and recycling pianos across Greater Manchester
We are a family firm and have been moving pianos since 1977. Whether the instrument is going to a concert-going household in Altrincham, a school hall in Rochdale or a flat in the city centre, our piano removal service covers Manchester and all of Greater Manchester. We are a service-area business with no shop to visit, so everything starts with a conversation.
If a piano has reached the end of its useful life, we have also handled piano disposal and recycling since 2010, from £174 inc VAT. The work is carried out by our sister company, Bellwoods Removals, an Environment Agency upper-tier registered waste carrier (licence CBDU133377). Pianos are dismantled by hand at our yard, never in your home, and under 1% of each one reaches landfill.
